Sephora steps up its commitment to disability inclusion by joining the Valuable 500

Launched by social entrepreneur Caroline Casey at the World Economic Forum annual meeting in 2019, the Valuable 500 is a global movement that is dedicated to making disability inclusion a greater part of the business leadership agenda. The movement aims at gathering at least 500 companies to join forces and make change happen, based on the belief that inclusive businesses help create more inclusive societies.

By joining the Valuable 500 we will accelerate our efforts to create a truly inclusive business”, said Martin Brok, Global President and CEO of Sephora.

In joining the Valuable 500, Sephora commits to strengthen its set of ongoing initiatives, by making this topic a top priority for its Leadership; by recruiting and supporting more people with disabilities, providing all colleagues with a more inclusive employee journey and  the tools they need to understand, embody and promote inclusion in the workplace; and by continuing to audit and build its stores, websites and workplaces to ensure they are accessible to everyone, using new accommodations and technology.

In each of the communities it serves, Sephora has initiatives that favour the inclusion of people with disabilities, such as actively removing bias from recruiting processes, partnering with associations or organizations dedicated to empowering people with disabilities, and training to identify unconscious bias and microaggression. In the US, Sephora has recently received a Disability Matters Award, recognizing its initiatives to foster the inclusion of people with disabilities, and the brand is proud to have 30% of employees with disabilities in some of its  distribution centres. 

About The Valuable 500

Launched by social entrepreneur and activist Caroline Casey at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in 2019, The Valuable 500 aims at setting a new global standard for workplace equality and disability inclusion. It aims to engage 500 private sector corporations to be the tipping point for change and contribute to the social and economic inclusion of people living with disabilities across the world. To this day, 480 companies have joined the movement, including Sephora.
